It worked!

So, last weekend was my mom's birthday. My goal was to get home and surprise her. Of course my mom is not easily surprised. She catches on to things really easily and I'm a really bad liar. But I did it! Well, not just me. The aunts and Tiffany helped as well. I totally couldn't have done it without them. But she cried and it was great. I am very proud of the family who didn't mention I was coming. :)

We spent the weekend at a cabin in Traverse City, MI. It was great, other than mom getting up at 5:15 on a Saturday morning. While we shopped Traverse City I bought ear plugs. The second night was much better. Tiff and I also went to chateau Chantel, a winery there. It was beautiful!

While in Grand Rapids I got to go to Yesterdog! YAY and Kava a couple of times and BW3's. It was a wonderful trip.

I am still trying to catch up on sleep...but there is always Saturday.

the $1,000,000 question

There is a lyric sung by the band Switchfoot--

"This is your life, are you who you want be?"

After listening to Rob Bell, I believe this lyric stops short. We need to take this question a little further. The question is not am I who I want to be. The question is...what am I doing with whom I am?

as a girl, you've got to love chocolate!

You are Milk Chocolate

A total dreamer, you spend most of your time with your head in the clouds.
You often think of the future, and you are always working toward your ideal life.
Also nostelgic, you rarely forget a meaningful moment... even those from long ago.

Meaninglessness

I just got done reading Ecclesiastes aka Solomon's conclusion that life is meaningless. There may be a time for everything, but its still all meaningless. You may have a wife but what's the point? it's meaningless. You can eat, drink and be happy...but what's the point? It's meaningless like chasing after the wind.

It's like his own wisdom frustrates him. He may be wise, but he'll still die. He may know secrets and understand things I will never be able to, but in the end we'll both return to dust. Do whatever you want, but you will die and there will be judgment.

I can kind of relate. My "wisdom" frustrates me too. I can know things and it still doesn't change the way I feel about stuff. I can understand peoples perspective but it doesn't mean I agree with it, like it or am able to apply it to anything. It's totally frustrating to have the "right" answers and them not do you any good.

So along w/ Solomon I must concede....fear God and keep His commandments...this is the duty of man.

September

September holds many things. It's the beginning of my favorite season and about 6,000 people I know were either born or married in September.
Right now it's the start of day 3 and already it's been a great September for me. On the first I went out for a b-day dinner for Bradley; followed by a high school football game. (Sorry Ravenwood!) Yesterday was some sand volleyball, swing dancing and the Waffle House (which actually hits the spot after swing dancing). Shortly I'm off to bible study and hopefully enjoying the afternoon by the pool. It should be magnificent!
The air feels like fall is approaching and although I am sure there will be a heat wave sometime before we actually get into the season, it's such a blessing. I CANNOT WAIT for sweaters and flip flops! It's one of my favorite things.

So...whats one of your favorite fall things? The pumpkin spice lattes, the hot apple cider, the hayrides, cornmazes, the smell of the air or the changing of leaves?
